Our design got selected as one of the top seven finalists in INDEX design challenge competition.More than 1000 students from 29 countries across the globe joined the competition which resulted in 115 submitted design solutions. Seven student designers or design teams have now been named as finalists.

project name
Akshara- Learn As You Play - Meghma Mitra and Sayantani Dasgupta

The design basically is a different perspective on the traditional alphabet book in the form of a toy, like a jigsaw puzzle, which helps children assimilate language better through tactile experience as well as developing motor skills.

We disintegrated Kannada alphabets into some basic forms and out of those common forms you can rearrange and reform all the Kannada alphabets and English alphabets as well and you can also make some basic shapes like sun, moon, man woman face, insects ets. One more possibility of this toy is that it does not limit child's imagination. He or she is not required to form associations with things defined in a traditional alphabet book but are free to form associations with things they are familiar with.
